紙に書かれた文字を敬うために建造された惜字炉、敬字亭、焚字炉などと呼ばれる焼却炉の遺物が東アジアの各地に残されています。書店 Briséesとセラミックレーベル SHOKKIはこの「敬惜字紙」の風習を下敷きに、古書とセラミックを使ったアートピースを制作しました。本に囲まれたBriséesを会場に、弔われた書物について想像を巡らせてみませんか。

Ancient incinerators specially built for paying respect for words on paper have been found throughout eastern Asia. Together with Ichiro Fukui / Brisées, we take inspiration from the “Keisekijishi” (ancient custom of respecting and carefully treating paper with words on them) and produce art pieces using old books and ceramics.
